Coronavirus Update 23.03.20

Fellow members,

Following on from the Prime Minister's statement earlier this evening, all golf clubs in the UK must close with immediate effect and remain closed until further notice. I'm sure we can all understand the need for these additional restrictions in order to limit the spread of Coronavirus and relieve the growing pressure on the NHS. Keeping golf courses open is no longer compatible with these measures which are designed to save lives at a time of national emergency.

As a result a small section of PGC staff will attend the club tomorrow morning to ensure it can be quickly and securely closed down for the duration of the lockdown period. While we were obviously aware of this possibility, the detailed implications and actions to be taken are still being worked on, but our primary objective in the short-term is to be clear to all our staff what this means for them, while ensuring the club is secured and any work which needs to be continued can be completed remotely.

We will continue to be advised by the Government and representative bodies from across the golf industry and will do whatever is in our power to maintain the course and the viability of the club going forward in these intensely difficult times. As always we will keep you all posted on any further developments, but in the meantime, please stay safe and look after those close to you.

Dave Brookes.
PGC Chairman.
