Welcome to the PGC LADIES SECTION!
We are a very friendly, lively and welcoming section. We have a Lady Captain, Vice Captain and Lady President and a Ladies Committee who run the Ladies section competitions and social events.
Our regular competition day is Tuesday, with daytime and evening tee-times.
There are also fortnightly mixed entry stableford competitions held on Wednesdays or Thursdays during the season.
We have mixed and ladies and Sunday competitions run throughout the year too, so plenty to get your teeth into!
Penwortham is a member of several inter-club leagues in the local area. We have a handicap team, the scratch team, the Miller team (for ladies with handicaps over 24) and also a Vets team for ladies of 55 years or more.
In recent years we have had a great run of success for many of our teams and hope it continues this year!
We also compete in the local Guild Cup Charity Cup.
If you are interested in starting to play golf, whatever your age, we run a 'Women into Golf' programme, with specially tailored memberships, lessons, get togethers and buddy systems to help you get started.
If this is something you would like to know more about, please contact the office who will put you in touch with one of our team. We would love to hear from you!
Medals
Play and record the strokes you take for 18 holes. These scores are then totalled to give the Gross Score. This is then reduced by your playing handicap to give the Net Score.
The person with the lowest net score is the winner.
Stablefords
You’re playing for points on each hole, with the number of shots you take being converted into those points. These are then totalled for the round.
The person with the highest number of points is the winner.
